Cataphiles - Shadow Self

Shadow Self, a 10-song album is their second release, musically continuing the style of the debut album, interweaving punk, goth and death-rock elements.It will be released on LP by Sabotage Recordsand on CD by Bat Cave Productions. A tape version is also planned in Europe (Sabotage Records) and in the US (Violet Hour Transmissions).The term ‘shadow self’ refers to unconscious aspects ofourselves that do not correspond to the ideal we want to achieve (or what others tell us we want to achieve). Thus, the album deals with aspects of being human that we don't like to see –e.g. the fatal assumption that we are worth more than other beings,the destruction our environment, profiting from exploitation and war, not caring about what happens outside our homes. (Human, The Industry, The Privileged, My Mirror).Some songs also have a very personal side, touching on feelings of emptiness, dissatisfaction and desires (Pleasures, Underground, Nähe). And finally, it was also important for us to empower, as we urgently need utopias that are imagined and practiced if we want to change something in our societies (Reality is..., My Wasted Life, I dance alone)
